Can't talk for long today; I just want to get this
up before I have to run off and go insane. Today is the first day of the two-day long library "Vacation
Arts Venture." All of the parents of cabin-fevering small children are going to be dropping off their
kids here for a bit to do crafts, music, and stories. Great premise, but I'm not looking forward to it. The person who is the main driving force behind the thing is a local retired woman; she's head of a bunch
of town social committees and whatnot, and will probably keep doing this until the day she dies. Stubborn
does not begin to describe her, and our duty as the "helping librarians" is mainly to stay out of her way
and nod whenever she makes a suggestion. Argh. She came up with the topic, she came up with the crafts; she decided on the music and snacks. Unfortunately,
I have a sneaking suspicion that all the ideas she's come up with are going to take far too much time
and concentration from the kids, who are only in first through third grade. We'll just have to see how it
goes, I suppose. Eric is sick. We have no idea what it is; his heart rate has been up around 120 beats a minute since
yesterday morning, and it's making him feel a little weak. Plus, his blood sugars soared up to 160, which is
really high for him. He called his brother, and Bryan seems to think it's
just something viral and said to take it easy. Not a problem for my man! He called me this morning at work
to ask whether he should be watching "Maury
Povich" or "The View" (sorry, no webpage - it's just a stupid panel argument show with a bunch of women). Gotta
love him! |
