*Yawn*

Having trouble waking up today. Maybe it had something to do with the car alarm outside my window that woke me up in the wee hours by blaring for a solid three minutes before stopping for ten seconds and then going all-out for another three minutes. Classy. Sam ran into my room, anxiously shouting, “What’s that car noise? Is that our car? Why is it doing that?” so I couldn’t just haul a pillow over my head and ignore it, either.

I’ve taken to calling him “Chevy,” as in Chevy Chase. It’s all pratfalls, all the time around here. He’s got an enormous scab on one elbow, and both his knees are scraped. (I guess we can expect a second elbow injury next.) I scrubbed at his lower legs for ages last night before I realized that the dirt smudges I was trying to erase were actually bruises. Whoops. At karate, I’ve begun starting off the class with an offer to him of fifty cents, which goes down by a nickel each time he falls down; I’m trying to help him knock off the silly flopping, at least, that he does for laughs.

Tomorrow is the last day of Week 5 for Couch-to-5K, and it’s simply, “Warm-up walk for five minutes, run for 20 minutes, cool-down walk.” Can I do it?
