Back again

We’re back in Maryland again, after two days with Eric’s family. The boys had a terrific time, what with the tractors and the trampoline and all the other dangerous things that make boys (and girls, but I personally have none of those) so happy. Gabe threw a massive fit when it was time to leave, which was sad but perhaps a bit gratifying for Eric’s father. ;)

Now…there’s this thing on Wednesday. I caught a glimpse of it in the free newspaper that the hotel gave us on the way out of town on Saturday morning. See, on the Fourth, the neighboring town, where I happened to have attended high school, is celebrating all day with tons of events, including…a 5K.

I’m feeling a tingle. I could probably make it through, if not running the whole way. My only real reservation is that DARN if this area isn’t way more hilly than what I’m used to running. This morning, during my 25-minute jog, I actually had to walk for a few seconds when I reached a hill that was just destroying me. Do I want to embarrass or disappoint myself by trying to do a 5K before I’ve even finished the C25K program (two weeks to go!) and on a course that may be too challenging? But what if I just set my goal as “to finish,” and do intervals of running and walking? If I do that, and I do cross the finish line, would that strengthen my confidence?

Ack! Decisions! But delicious ones. :)
