Doldrum prompt

If money were no object, and the day was just perfect - not to hot, not too cold, sun shining, slight breeze - how would you spend a perfect day out that had been given to you in the middle of a cold and blustery winter?

I don’t think there’s any question at all that a long, long run would have to be involved. I might go down to Lake Michigan, where there’s a trail that runs near the water, and do at least 5 miles, stopping only when the sweat had stopped coming and my muscles had moved beyond tired into that zone of deliciously buttery and loose.

I’d take the kids to the playground and let them run and shout until they were hoarse and ready to drop from exhaustion.

I’d get lots of grillable vegetables and meat, and we’d cook outside. (Probably not eat out, though; I’ve never been a fan of the flying insects that congregate about food aromas.)

I’d change the bed linens, washing them and letting them hang outside to dry in the sun so they could pick up all the fresh air scents. I’d leave the windows wide open while the beds were stripped so that the mattresses could air, too.

Mostly, I’d probably sit around outside with a goofy grin on my face, taking advantage of every bit of sunlight I could grab, filling up my inner stores to get me through the rest of the winter. It’s zero degrees Fahrenheit outside today, as deceptively bright as it appears, and those inner stores are rapidly depleting, if not pretty much empty, as of now.

Oooh…I’m over here in equally frigid Madison, and just reading this caused me to remember that spring and early summer DO exist! Yes, Victoria, there is a season other than winter!

    Thanks, Carrie!
