Good Mo-or-ning…

(Because half the time that I say that common phrase, I get the beginning of Act 1, Scene 1 of Peter Grimes all stuck in my head, and I very nearly feel the need to also add, “Oh, hang at open doors!” The risks of having studied music, I guess. ;) Grimes is particularly insidious at inserting itself into everyday speech; when the kids get crabby with each other, Eric and I are both guilty of singing, “We live and let live, and loo-ooooook! We keep our hands to ourselves!”)

Obviously, I’m a little wired at the moment. Did 6.16 miles in a little less than an hour today, so better pacing, and it would have been better than that had I not spent about 2 miles of it running headlong into strong wind. Sheesh. My legs are wiped, but in a good way. The first part of the run went really well, and I hit 5K well under thirty minutes. I really, really love the 170+BPM mixes from Podrunner; they’re just perfect for keeping me moving at a good speed.

And I was glasses-free today! Went with the clear lenses, mostly so that I could have them immediately and not have to wait. I didn’t realize how prevalent disposable contacts had become in the 7 years or so since I last bought them, so if I want to change colors later, it won’t be a huge deal. Nice! And I celebrated by buying cheap sports sunglasses, too. Sam says I look like a rock star. He’s quite the silver-tongued devil sometimes.

I’ll start tapering a bit now, running shorter distances in preparation for Saturday’s race. Weather’s supposed to be clear and a smidge cooler, so I’m extra-psyched for a good day. Still time to pledge!

    SPAM! OH NOEZZ!

In other news - good luck on the race! Congrats on the contacts!

And whenever I see “good morning” I’m apt to think of Singin’ In The Rain…

    Goooooood mornin’ (good mornin’!)
We’ve talked the whole night through
Good mornin’, good mornin’ to you!
    (tap dancing!)
