Deliciously wiped

I got it in my head that I wanted to run someplace pretty today. I knew there was a park to the south of us that has a nice, woody loop, and I was pretty sure it wasn’t too far away. Turns out that it was a perfect distance: about three miles away. The loop itself was a little over a mile in length, and it varied enough in elevation to give me a good workout for the backs of my legs and my bottom.
I did four loops around, then ran back home, for a total of 10.8 miles, and I didn’t really feel wiped until I stopped moving…at which point I felt like I could have happily collapsed and not moved for the rest of the day. But after stretching, a shower, and lots of water, I feel awesome! After last Saturday’s abysmal long run, this was an excellent way to kick off the weekend.
We have to head out to run a couple of errands northward, and Sam is in bended-knee-pleading mode to get to see the new Indiana Jones movie today. Eric’s inclined to take him, and I really hope there’s something lighter playing to which I can take Gabe; he’ll absolutely explode once he realizes that he’s not seeing “Doctor Jones!” with Sam, but from what I’ve read, without getting too spoilery, I’ve read that some of the scary scenes involve bugs, which is one of Gabe’s current “things.”
Maybe he’ll catch it on video someday.
Eleven years ago, I was getting psyched for our wedding rehearsal, making sure everything was in order, and generally feeling jittery and giggly.
