Literally. Well, perhaps it’s not hot, but…
They were on the brink of admitting me, but decided to let me go home, since I was mostly stable. There’s a ton, just a ton, of free air in my abdomen – front, back, in the colon, floating in the abdominal cavity. I even have air in my uterus and other reproductive areas. And we have no idea why. The radiologist thought maybe it could have come from a major fall, but I haven’t fallen at all recently. The air is filling me, pushing upwards and causing the pain.
So I have medications to reduce the air, prescription and over-the-counter. If things get worse, I’m to go to the ER. No more muscle relaxants, and use the pain meds sparingly, since they can exacerbate things. Eric’s going to try to get home earlier than planned; my parents are on their way back here to fill the gap until he returns.
The biggest issue for me is that I don’t know why this is happening. What is going on? Why am I full of air? Why can’t anybody tell me?
Oh my gosh Carrie, that is the oddest thing I have ever heard of. (Send to an episode of that show House, they love stuff like that) I hope you get all that air out and feel better soon. I guess you have like an adult “colic” you poor thing. It seems you have such a high pain tolerance, you must really be uncomfortable.
Hope you’re feeling better soon.
Okay, I actually get this from time to time so if you figure out what causes it I’d LOVE to know.
Sending sympathies and hoping you, um, release your air quickly and painlessly!!
*hugs* it’s frustrating to know that something’s wrong and not know why/how it came to be.
Let me know if I can do anything…..
Could it have something to do with all the weight loss? You look incredible by the way! I was browsing through pictures you posted and I don’t even recognize you! Congratulations!
Gah, I’m so sorry you’re going through this, but I’m glad they’ve figured out what’s going on. I hope the cause and solution come next. {{HUGS}}
(oh my gosh. that is so scary. ::hugs::
i’m sending you lots and lots of positive energy.)
I’ve never heard of that aside from being filled with air for surgeries.
I am really glad it wasn’t your heart.
But, not having answers is also very frustrating.
I’m sorry! And, thankful you have your parents coming back to you.
