Good advice

Mostly for me, but if anybody else can get anything from it, go for it.

I’ve been wanting to post a comment here @ The Dunes for awhile now, and this post of yours seems like a logical place for what I wanted to say to both you and my fellow readers.

Carrie, I’ve been really inspired by your fitness-related efforts. Your progress has been incredibly impressive, and your story (and pictures!) inspiring.

My husband loves to bike, and I’ve always enjoyed it myself, but in a “get myself to the market” kind of way–not a “let’s go on a long bike ride” kind of way. Lately, I’ve been working on improving my stamina on the bike by going on daily rides and pushing myself to go farther and longer and on more difficult paths. I’m not incredibly overweight, but I’m definitely…um…soft and a bit out of shape since we canceled our gym membership.

Anyway. I just wanted to say that every time I think, “This is too much. I’ve got to stop.” I remember that it’s OK to stop once you’ve pushed as far as you can go, because tomorrow you’ll be able to go farther. The fact that your journey started with Couch to 5K reminds me of that. Baby steps!

And–the reason I wanted to post this (horribly long comment) in the comments rather than email it is because when you first started, I remember you posting about how surely people saw you jogging and wondered about the “chubby girl trying to run.” One of your readers posted something to the effect of, “If I saw you running, I would be so impressed and proud of you, even if you were a stranger.” Ever since then, when I see someone overweight out running or riding or walking, I think the same thing, and knowing that gives me the confidence to be a chubby girl on a bike! :)

So…thanks! Sorry this was so long, it’s just been floating around in my head for awhile.

Thanks for this. I’m needing it tonight for the 100 push up challenge, it’s week 3 day 3 and the first set has 20 push ups.

note, my MAX last week was 15, not sure how I’m going to do the rest of the workout after that
