What?

GABE: “Mom, does ‘advice’ start with the letter ‘i’?”
ME: “No, the letter ‘a’.”
GABE (wandering off, grumbling): “Then he was wrong! I knew it!”
I have no idea or context.
All part of trying to keep up with these boys. Yesterday at a playground, Gabe confused the heck out of some dad there with his girls by approaching him with, “Excuse me? Guess what we have!” (”What?”) “Doctor Who! And guess what else?” (”Um, what?”) “Intruder alert! Intruder alert!” He ran off cackling, leaving behind a father who looked sort of relieved to have his three frilly daughters picking flowers in the grass.
I suppose you never know, though; maybe he was a little bit jealous. “Intruder alert,” indeed. ![]()
It would seem we’re possibly entering another growth spurt with Gabe; he’s been eating all morning without stopping, even more so than usual. At one point, when he started begging for more food, I sighed, “You just had a banana, a piece of turkey, and some cheese!”
“But I’m still hungry!”
“Like the Very Hungry Caterpillar?”
“Yes! I need my book!” And he ran off to find it and read it…over a bowl of grapes. Must still have a corner of his belly that needs filling.
It’s supposed to be a gorgeous day here - sunny, clear, and a high of 75 degrees. I desperately need to get out and cut the grass, so today will be a perfect day for that. Interestingly, I’ve noticed that I’m not the only one letting the lawn get a little overgrown in the past couple of weeks; as I went for my run today, I noticed many normally well-kept yards looking shaggy about the edges, with weeds growing rampantly. Maybe the owners have gas mowers and don’t want to pay to run them often, or maybe, like me, it’s just a feeling that we’ve reached the part of the year where summer feels as though it’s dragging on forever, and can’t it be fall already, with leaf raking and lessened weeding? Please? I know, I’m a little spoiled for the hot season by living in Wisconsin (the winters set the balance the other way, of course); yesterday, it was downright chilly, in my opinion, and both Gabe and I had on sweaters. (Sam, his father’s child, was sweating in his tee-shirt and insisting that he wear a tank top on the morrow.)
Supposed to stay gorgeous through race day on Saturday. I’m still trying to figure out how to handle that; I’m scheduled for twelve miles, but the race is only a 5K (3.11 miles). Don’t want to be tired out before the race starts, so I’ll do, at most, only a mile or two before the start. I suppose I could just not stop at the finish line, keep going around and around, but I don’t want to mess up any organization stuff, and I do want to be present at the time the awards are announced. (Not likely to win anything, but door prizes are fun!) I could just run again after the awards. We’ll see. The county fair is this weekend, too, but I think we’ll go on Sunday; the rides are cheaper. ![]()

That’s so funny because that’s how my life is too. E walks around saying “exterminate” and is currently OBSESSED with Doctor Who, especially the daleks. My boyfriend claims he is going to make E a dalek suit for Halloween. I seriously don’t think he could do it. I remember that photo from the costume you made for Sam. Yours was awesome!!
Having boys is exhausting and sometimes a little insane but I love it. I don’t know if I could handle having a girl now, I wouldn’t know what to do!

We often joke that talking to Jude is like talking to a Douglas Adams novel.
