Did you miss me?
Yesterday after running, we went to Eric’s company picnic, and then Karen picked me up and took me to Chicago for Kelly’s last hurrah as a single woman. There were five of us there, including Kelly, and we had a blast! There was eating, drinking, and much chatter about everything under the sun, especially love and relationships. It was, I hope, a good send-off for Kelly, who’ll be married in less than a week; as we left this morning, I told her that I wasn’t wishing her good luck, since she wouldn’t need it. “Congratulations, and have fun!” That was more appropriate.
Last night, after dinner (Mango Tandoori Chicken pizza; I was in heaven), we went to the top of the John Hancock building for drinks. I’m not afraid of heights, but elevators…eep. So barreling up 96 stories in an express elevator left me prancing from foot to foot, gripping the hand rails, and praying that the shuddering we were feeling would please end soon. Our ears popped from the speed we traveled. (Going down, it was even worse.) But the view was incredible. That picture was actually taken from the women’s bathroom; we knew it was going to be a good view from there because of the number of people, men and women both, traipsing in and out of the bathroom door to look at it. I love big cities, and this is the sort of thing that reinforces that for me. Anybody want to watch my kids so Eric and I can go down together sometime?
All in all, it was an absolute blast. I’m so happy I got to go down for it! Very much thanks to Heidi for coordinating. And to Kelly (and Sean), I mean it: have fun. Well, keep having fun, and never, ever stop. ![]()
