Eric’s company puts up fleet cars (cars used for business trips, etc.) for auction every so often, and we’ve toyed in the past with the idea of bidding on one. Well, this year, we test-drove one, picked our bid, and Eric submitted it this morning.
By a high bid of three whole dollars over the next-highest, we won a 2006 Chrysler Town & Country! Yahoo! We can actually separate the boys for trips!
And it was a really good deal, too. Holy crap, I can’t wait to drive this thing; we’ll actually be able to carpool with people for the first time since having children! And it’ll have a radio, too – we haven’t replaced ours in our Saturn since it was stolen several years ago. Ah, the simple pleasures in life.
Congrats that’s a great car! Enjoy.
Congrats. Our minivan saved my sanity when my kids were younger.
That is so exciting!!
What a nice holiday gifty!
What color is it? The interior? (truly, I care.)
Will you now be a two car family, with the van yours to use and the car Eric’s commuter?
Very Happy for you!
Wow, congratulations on your new minivan! And what a great way to get one.
We had a Dodge Grand Caravan (the cheaper version of the one you’re getting) for 10 years, and are now enjoying our Honda Odyssey.
Minivans are just the BEST family car! They are so wonderfully comfortable, and very practical for short and long trips, for hauling stuff–for everything. And the ability to haul lots of kids is so handy.
I think you’re going to be so happy with your new purchase!
Ack! You’ve officially turned into a Minivan Mom.
As for me, I will *never* put my name on the title to one of those things. Give me an SUV any day.
Don’t get to pick what fleet cars come up for auction.
I’m no car person; I can’t identify makes, models, or much beyond “van,” “station wagon,” “truck.” Long as it works and I can fit all my stuff into it, I’m doing pretty good! And remembering how my “stuff” seemed to grow as I got older and my school projects got more sizeable, numerous, and complicated, I’m happy to have more room than our sedan did.
We’ll probably ditch the old car. Nice only having to insure and fuel one vehicle. It’s still up in the air, though.
Congratulations! That is really exciting.
Ummm, yeah–there’s a lot of that “You’d never catch me in one of THOSE things!” attitude towards minivans here in CT. *Shrug* Some folks do link their self-esteem to their mode of transportation, but I’ve never understood that mindset. Guess I’m just too practical.
I drive a 2007 Grand Caravan, and except for the fact that I didn’t want it (the husband bought it. sigh.), I like it. I wish I had an “in town” car and had my van for road trips because you just can’t beat it on the road.
Hey, to each his own. (Out of curiosity…what happened to Bess the Bonneville?)
