A very grouchy Christmas list

Spawned by a very grouchy morning.

1. A working flashlight, small enough to run with.
2. Running socks that come up over my ankle bone at a minimum.
3. A headlamp that’s easily washed.
4. Either a second pair of running shoes, or
5. A space heater or something small that will dry the one pair I have if I decide to run two days in a row.
6. A smaller band for my heart rate monitor so it doesn’t keep slipping down. (Yay for accuracy…)
7. Pretty nail polish to cover up my black toenail.

I’m going to go run in the rain now, splashing through puddles with my already damp shoes and trying to get silly in an attempt to ignore the rest of it.

Can I offer a suggestion w/r/t drying the running shoes? I have had great success drying my children’s shoes/boots using an ordinary heating pad.

I simply wrap a hand towel around the pad (l layer thick) to protect it, put the shoes on top (opening the laces very wide to allow for maximum evaporation), set it to the appropriate temperature level (low temps for leather shoes, higher temps for fabric shoes) and let them do their thing. It works a treat, and is so much less expensive than one of those special blown-air shoe dryers. And it puts a household staple to additional use.

Do you have any headlamp suggestions? If I do this midnight New Year’s run, I will need one.

Right now, I’m using this, and it’s fine for dusk or early morning, but it’s not so effective in the pitch black. You may want something stronger.

Ah ha. I didn’t realize you could get hats with lights. I pictured myself with something like a miner. Heh.

    Thanks, girl!
