ME: “Sam, what’s Bakugan?”
SAM: “Um…I dunno.”
ME: “Oh. See, my friend Whitney has a son who’s about your age. They don’t live here, but where they are, she says that all the second graders have Bakugan. Is Bakugan not popular in your class?”
SAM: “Oh, that. No, not really.”
ME: “Is there something that is popular in your class? What does everybody like?”
SAM: “…Math?”
(I can probably guarantee that there are tons of kids in his class playing Bakugan during every free moment. I can also guarantee that Sam is honestly and completely oblivious to it, just as I would have been, right up until about five minutes before it went out of vogue.
)
Consider yourself lucky.
Bakugan is very popular with the first, second, and third grade here in Colorado, even with some of the girls. I think it’s cool.
I’ve never heard of that game. Guess it’s not wild fire with the homeschool kids
And, I think it’s wonderful that Sam is Sam and not distracted nor caught up in peer stuff.
Trayton has a ton of the things, except he wants to play his way, not the actual game.
Which means he wants to play so that he wins all the time. (Third grader)
