By the way (totally random poll)

A friend is doing an awesome thing for me and, out of the blue, volunteered to take my boys on Saturday so Eric and I could have an anniversary date. I was nearly in tears, seriously; asking for sitting is hard, so when it just lands in my lap, it’s a huge deal.

So! What should I make for her? ;)

Will you be traveling for the holidays?

Please feel free to elaborate (what kind of cookies/cake/muffins/bread/whatever?) in the comments!

We’re going to take the train into Chicago and walk around, just hanging out together.

    make her 6 cup-cakes with a letter iced on each one: T, H, A, N, K, S, !

  2. Donna says:

Obviously bread is winning, but I love the idea of a fancy cake – or “Thanks!” cupcakes – cute!

My vote was for bread, something special (homeade bread is AWESOME!) and kind of practical. But the THANKS cupcakes sound too cool for words.

    Enjoy your date!

  4. Sarah says:

Ahh I also voted for the homemade bread, it not only is healthier but tastes sooo nummy.

  5. Jennifer says:

The idea of freshly baked bread as a thank you just makes me smile. A lot.
    Enjoy your anniversary!

  6. Erin says:

Hard call between homemade bread and cupcakes. But I voted for cupcakes because they’re always the favorite whenever I take baked goods anywhere. :)

  7. Karen says:

Do you have a bread maker? If so, make a simple strawberry jelly to go with a loaf of honey wheat bread. Deliver it warm from the oven, and she’ll offer to babysit next weekend, too.

  8. Emily says:

I voted for the bread, ’cause it’s so versatile and, while I know some folks that aren’t big on sweet baked goods (I’m not one of them), I have never met anyone who could pass up fresh bread!
