I had a physical exam for updated life insurance this morning. The medical guy came to my house and did his rigmarole. Put the blood pressure cuff around my arm, pumped, listened. Pumped again, listened more. Finally, “…what do you usually read at?!”
(Came in this morning at 95/66, by the way.)
Fasting for the exam did not make me smile, but my scrambled eggs with scallions and peppers that I made after we were done? That did, as did the coffee I’d been craving since waking.
And this:

…Well, it might look mysterious and not so exciting to most, but it’s a four-day-old starter for sourdough! It smells deliciously fruity. Tomorrow I’ll feed it some more flour, sugar, and milk! Eric remains dubious.
I just wish it would be ready in time for me to make some bread with it for my babysitting friend, but, alas, it won’t be mature by then. Oh, but I don’t need reasons to spoil people with bread!
I have fresh pink Kalanchoes in bloom on my dining room table.
I’m experimenting with a chickpea and caper salad for dinner tonight.
I bought a domain and can’t wait to put it to use.
The sun is shining, and I don’t need to wear a heavy sweater anymore.
What’s got you smiling today?
A new domain!? That put a smile on my face. I don’t think I’ve ever known you to have any but this one.
Well, I think this will stay as it is, probably (can’t imagine being elsewhere, at this point!), but this is for a new project that has me intrigued. Problem: I don’t remember how to get things started! The domain is bought, the hosting is through my current host, the pointer is set up, and…nothing? How long does one wait?
Oh, wait; there it is!
I’ve been exploring baking sourdough bread lately (gee…us redheads must think alike!
) and had great success with a starter I started 2 weeks ago. Made my first batch of bread last night and had to put the 2nd loaf in the freezer, for fear of eating it all. LOL It’s not sour enough for me but everything I’ve read says it takes time to develop that “sourness”. *pouts* Oh well…it’s still damn good bread! Good luck with yours!
I love sourdough (especially from my own starter) – that I moved 5000 miles with one once. We had to stop everyday for ice, it was my *pet* Though I have never had a lid on a starter, but for a tea cloth…having a some what air tight lid on it makes me wonder if it will be okay. See, like a pet!
Anyway, let us know how it turns out!!
