Some people go on formal “dates” for anniversaries. Some people do shows, music events, or dinner and a movie.
We took the train to Chicago, walked around and shopped (Eric got some Levenger stuff, and I got my squee on at the Vosges store (brick and mortar! Who knew?!), did more window shopping, and ate lots of yummy food. I was starting to feel fuzzy-headed when we got there, since I’d purposefully eaten lightly before that, so we ran into Friends Sushi which was a hip little place with some very good food! We shared some of that, then walked around some more, enjoying the sights until dinner time.
Eric selected Texas de Brazil, where I’d never been, and if you know the meaning of “churrascaria,” then you’re probably groaning in happy sympathy for my belly right now. Think humongous “cold bar,” filled with loads of vegetables, salads, cheeses, cold cuts…a selection of sushi, rices, bisque, and beans…and, then, the MEAT. They bring over skewers of different kinds of meat, cutting off pieces to put on your plate, and it just keeps coming so long as you have your little sign flipped to “green.” When you flip it to “red,” they give you break.
On top of that, Eric and I opted to share a half-bottle of red wine, which was awesome – and then a server overheard me wishing Eric a happy anniversary, and they brought over complimentary champagne! To say that I was feeling the effects would be an small understatement, but I was feeling fine by the time we made it back to the train station to head for home.
The boys were well-behaved for my friend, and they were passed out when we got them. She loved the bread I made, which pleased me; it was fun to make it! All in all, it was a great day, and I wish we could have days like it all the time, but then, I suppose, it might not have felt as special. Doesn’t keep me from wanting to do it again soon, though!
Happy Anniversary! It sounds like it was a fabulous day.
Happy anniversary.
the bread is gorgeous.
you two look very happy in that photo
Sounds like a terrific time. Being away from kids for short times and being able to court and focus on each other is the best thing!
