Read this?. Lovely. I really liked my old Sigg, and maybe (well, probably) I’m being a paranoid freak, but I can’t bring myself to use it and its old BPA-containing liner anymore.
In my search for a replacement, I have several things that are important to me. I want it to be stainless steel. Yeah, there are probably safe aluminum bottles out there, but once bitten, twice shy, y’know? No more “what’s in the trademarked liner” game for me. The BPA-free plastics are likely to be safe, but I’ve discovered that I am just more prone to drinking water when it’s in a cold metal bottle instead of plastic. (Glass, for the record, is the worst, unless I’m using a straw; I just hate the feeling of my lips on glass. Shiver-inducing.) Stainless steel seems my best option. Also, there’s no point in getting a steel bottle for the metal, and then sticking a plastic or silicone straw or spout on it. At that point, I’d probably just go with a less expensive bottle made all of plastic.
Beyond that, the shallow part of my mind would like it to be pretty.
Is that so much to ask? Klean Kanteen prides itself on having undecorated bottles, for some reason, but…I really liked my colorful little sunbursts! It made me smile every time I looked at the bottle next to me on my desk. When it comes down to it, this is of course a secondary concern, but I can’t believe that a pretty stainless steel water bottle is unavailable. So, I search. Maybe the Innate one? Lots of the bottles I see have mediocre reviews from people who’ve tried them, but the ones for this one seem okay. EDIT: never mind; the Innate has a plastic opening, too.
By the way? This is all an attempt at distracting myself from my dental surgery scheduled for tomorrow morning. I’m really rather terrified every time I remember about it, so the less I can do that, the better…
My refurb Garmin is hopefully on its way here. I’m managing okay so far, but it’s irritating. I don’t think it’ll arrive before we head to Green Bay either tomorrow night (if I’m feeling okay) or Wednesday morning. (By the way, these vacations that coincide with some sort of physical pain for me are eyebrow-quirking. Last year, I did the Dells on crutches, and this year, I’ll be on pain pills for my mouth. Oof, and that’s one more reason to stress over the water bottle thing; the Camelbak backup I’d otherwise use in the car has a bite-valve/straw, and something tells me I won’t want to use that after a tooth extraction…)
I have a SIGG bottle with the BPA liner too. Whee!
I need to get one with a liner, though. I throw my water bottle into my bag when I go to work/derby practice, and having the bottle sweat condensation all over my papers/skates is not a good thing. I will probably have to go with one of the new SIGGs.
Check out Sheepish. They are carrying 4 or 5 different SUPER cute styles of some brand I didn’t have time to look at, as Violet was running around ripping the paper off fine soaps.
I got some of these. They are $5 in the store and cute patterns.

I’ve got a Klean Kanteen and LOVE it. Yes, it’s plain (mine is black), but I’ve decorated it with stickers and whatnot, so it’s a bit more entertaining.
Outing myself of looooong time lurkdom to chime in that I love my Blue Q stainless water bottle. Pretty, 20 oz, and cheap. If you know of anyone that does Frontier Co-op they have them there for under $11, and occasionally even run them on special for under $9. http://www.blueq.com/water-bottles/
Long time reader – not a big commenter but I have a Nathan water bottle and I love it. It has a straw but you don’t have to tip it and they come in plain or pretty. They also have a website…

I have to leave my reader-only status to say that I have an EarthLust and I love it! Lots of pretty designs.

I think I ordered it from Nubius Organics, but a quick Google search should reveal the cheapest price for the design you want.
