You know, there must be some teenager around you that you know (and trust) that LOVES to shop - especially with someone else's money. Why not hire them for an afternoon to get all your Christmas shopping done? I used to do in-home childcare for a developmentally disabled young adult and I would do as much shopping for the holidays for her mom as possible. Just a thought.... :)

If you like hot buttered rum, this is going to rock your socks!!!

Hot Buttered Rum Batter

Ingredients:

1/4 pound butter
1/4 pound brown sugar
1/4 pound confectioners' sugar
1 cup vanilla ice cream, softened
3/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg (definitely use fresh if you have it)

Melt butter in a large pot over medium heat. Blend in brown sugar and confectioners' sugar.

Remove from heat, and whisk in the ice cream, cinnamon, and nutmeg.

Pour mixture into a plastic container, seal, and freeze.

In a coffee mug, measure 1 tablespoon Hot Buttered Rum Batter and 1 fluid ounce of rum, then fill cup with boiling water. Stir, and sprinkle top of drink with nutmeg.

This yields 25 servings, and is 78 calories per serving, 4.5 grams of fat. I have no idea if that includes the rum, but I doubt it.. Also, you can sub apple cider in place of the water with incredible results. You can also omit the rum altogether if you use the cider, for the boys. :)

I generally quadruple the recipe for the entire Fall/Winter season, for a nice hot treat when friends come over. The whole thing takes about 15 minutes to make and is soooooooo worth it!
