Jinx

I might have jinxed myself a couple days ago, when I posted to Facebook, “Unless something changes in the coming days (don’t bet it won’t), it actually doesn’t look good for having a white Christmas.” At the time, there were only a couple of snowshowers – not even with any measurable accumulation – forecast for today and tomorrow, then nothing. Well, now:

We’re in the 50-75% zone. And there’s snow on the ground right now, with temps in the coming days that don’t look high enough to melt it. Mind, there’s not much snow, but it’s there. It was enough that I broke out the YakTrax for my run this morning, and that I was glad to have them when one of the running club members slipped and rolled down a little hill right behind me. He’s fine, happily, but I’m just as glad it wasn’t me who felt the group’s good-natured ribbing after that!
We went to church for the rest of the morning, preparing for tomorrow’s cantata. Eric and I have a duet in the cantata; he refers to it more as a solo for me, with him accompanying me for the chorus, but that’s neither here nor there. I don’t like using microphones, and these are the sort that basically require you to put your nose directly on the metal in order to work their best. “Pretend it’s an ice cream cone,” the sound folks told me. I muttered something to Eric about having seen Trent Reznor do something similar, but I’m not sure how acceptable that’d be for a church music program.
Anyway! Moving on!
Related to absolutely nothing except that I love soup when things get cold and snowy, I have to highly recommend the Pacific Natural Foods boxed soups. I know! Soup in a box! It’s positively not the sort of thing you’d admit to enjoying, most cases, but these, or at least the ones I’ve tried, are really really good. I had the Roasted Red Pepper and Tomato first, and now I’ve also had the Cashew Carrot Ginger; both are delicious! I had a bowl of it tonight with a wrap sandwich I made (spicy black bean dip, sun-dried tomatoes, pepperjack cheese, sunflower sprouts, roasted red peppers, and spinach), and I feel completely satisfied, both in belly and mouth. And it’s pretty light in calories, for a cream soup, and nutritious, too! Go forth and enjoy.
Bedtime for Bonzos, I think; they’ve begun to chase each other around the house with scary pictures they’ve drawn. As far as play activities go, I’d call that fairly creative, but it’s time to bring the madness to an end.
