Horses, redux

Also, ditto everything I said a few entries back about the hotels with the oatmeal and peanut butter. Something to be said for known quantities. :)

It was snowing pretty hard an hour or so ago, but now, as we’re about to hit the road again, it’s tapered a bit. Good thing; we’ve got hours to go before home. Man, I could have used another half-hour of sleep; the boys woke me up early with the old classic “He’s touching me!” routine. Man, it’s funnier when Cosby’s doing it than when it’s being performed live by your own offspring.

Hey, did you know? Some guy told us in the hotel lobby, though I haven’t verified it with my own eyes: apparently, on the old capitol building, the builders originally misspelled the name of the city, in huge sandstone carving: FRANKFÜRT instead of (the Americanized) FRANKFORT. In true Southern practicality, instead of tearing it down to correct it, they shrugged and decided that would be the back of the building. If I can, I really want a photo of that before we leave. :)
