Updating!

Eric says I should update more, that he liked it in December when I update frequently. Well, okay, then!

Sam had no school today, but Gabe did, which posed an interesting situation. Sam is old enough that I could have been comfortable leaving him in the house (with the internet access disabled, of course) without me while I ran a short while, so he and I agreed to that plan initially. Then, though, I had a bad experience yesterday evening, when a planned two-plus-hour run turned into a less than ninety-minute one, with the last few miles being more of a stumble-lurch. My body felt exhausted, and my left foot was feeling a little achy. I felt okay this morning, but I decided that the run should be in the gym, on a treadmill; that way, the moment I felt any foot discomfort, I could immediately alter the workout into a cross-training session. Sam brought along a book, and we hit the gym after dropping off Gabe at preschool.

Thankfully, my foot was just fine, though I did keep myself to a shorter run than I’ve been doing on Mondays as of late. Better safe than sorry! After that, we met Eric for lunch, got Sam a haircut (church portraits on Wednesday), and then, after getting Gabe again, hit Hobby Lobby for some paint and extras for the upcoming Scouts Pinewood Derby.

(That was “take 2,” after the first attempt got photobombed (videobombed?) by Gabe, as is becoming predictable around here.)

I can hardly believe January is almost over; in Hobby Lobby, I saw the Valentine’s Day stuff was already discounted, and I had a bit of panic, as I haven’t even begun to think about the boys’ Valentine’s stuff this year. Gabe is just fine with that; he’s already begun grumbling about how “Valentine’s is about love, and I’m NOT getting a girlfriend for Valentine’s Day! Yuck!”
