More Gabe

It was such a lovely day that I decided to walk to Gabe’s school with the jogging stroller at the end of the day, then walk home with him. He enjoyed it, too. :) Lately, he’s been very interested in houses and the buying of such, so we discussed the houses we passed.

GABE: “Are all these houses on sale?”
ME: “No, just the ones with signs in front. But these are too expensive for us to afford.”
GABE: “We should buy $100 from the bank, and then another $100, and then another $100.”
ME: “I don’t think we’ll be able to afford these, even then.”
GABE: “Oh. But it’s still a good idea, anyway.”

ME: “What do you think of this house?”
GABE: “Oh! It’s really big! Whoa!”
ME: “It sure is! And so pretty.”
GABE: “But…maybe it’s just really big and pretty on the outside, and inside, it’s all crabby and cracky and ugly.”
ME: “Hmmm. What makes you think that?”
GABE: “I don’t think that. I’m just suggesting it.”

GABE: “I like that one! It’s got a really nice door! And look at the deer statue!” [Note: it was a plastic, tacky lawn ornament, about two feet tall.] “I would love the door, and Sam would love the statue, because he loves nature, and deers are nature! It would be perfect for us! I want to break down the door and take it now!”
