GABE: “Do I have school today?”
ME: “No, school’s out until fall.”
GABE: “Well, do I have MOPS?”
ME: “Not anymore. You outgrew it!”
GABE: “Church?”
ME: “Bible Blast is over for the summer.”
GABE: “Then what am I supposed to do with myself?!”
Somebody is going to be super fun until his summer classes start, can’t you tell?
Saw the doctor this morning. I decided when I woke up that I should take the day as a full rest day, no cross training, just to be safe. The doctor examined me and saw no signs of torn cartilage or anything like that; she thinks simple overuse, possibly with a touch of Runner’s Knee. I got a referral for physical therapy, and I asked her to make sure it was somebody aggressive and athlete-friendly. My appointment with them is on Monday; she thinks I probably should hold off running until then. Walking should be okay, but pain is to be my guide. That’s tricky when my brain is playing the “OMG, what was that twinge?” game, but I’ll try. I was listening to an episode of The Extra Mile with a Jeff Galloway interview in which he spoke of having injured runners, training for marathons, cut back to walking, and how they were really resistant to the idea but were able to recover and even come close to or meet their original race goals. That said, I want to keep my planned mileage, so I may be starting the weekend’s training sessions a bit earlier in the day than I planned.
Can’t be helped.
Wish I had access to a pool. I’m not a Swimmer by anybody’s definition, but I can swim, and right now, pushing myself like that sounds awesome and safe at the same time.
I’m so glad you went to see a professional and I’m relieved to hear there wasn’t any obvious injury.
Take care of yourself!
Calling anybody who has a pool for Carrie to use…..love, Joy
Carrie,
Lake Andrea is open for the season… it’s shallow enough to walk and the sand bottom might give you enough resistance to get a good workout. You can swim along the shore there too. VERY VERY easy and good place to swim for beginners, especially for open water.
Go watch the triathletes train!
