Always look on the bright side of life

If it’s raining on Saturday when we’re running 26-28 miles, it shouldn’t be too sticky-steamy (probably).

If it’s thundering, it’ll add to the excitement. In the same vein, suddenly slipping down hills on impromptu mudslides should also add a bit of mystery to each next step. On the other hand, keeping our footing should keep us slow, which would help my IT band – bonus either way.

If I get incredibly sore, it’ll make relaxing at Sam’s pool party feel awesome the next day, right? (You know, after I put in ten more “recovery” miles. Have to pay my dues, y’know.)

I am DEFINITELY earning a corner piece of the birthday cake. Aw, yeah, frosting.

At least the trails we’re planning to use are the ones that didn’t get hit by tornadoes this week, hey?

In all seriousness, the real bright side here is that if it is raining on Saturday, it will allow for us to experience what we haven’t experienced in this entire training cycle: trail running in poor weather. I would bet real money that this guy would not cancel a race because of a little falling water:

They’ve rerouted the race in the past due to flooding, but cancel? Yeah. So having a little extra preparation under our belts could be a useful thing, if uncomfortable in the short-term. And that’s what I’ll keep telling myself…
