I fear for the future

Exact question on one of the forms for registering in schools here:
“What was the first language your son/daughter learned? No______ Yes________ (Name language)”

I’m not slamming my head into my desk only because somebody better be around to counterbalance this sort of thing in the world my kids inhabit.

Heh. Looks like it originally read “Is English your child’s first language?” and then it got edited to be more inclusive, but someone forgot to change the Yes/No box. D’oh.

  2. Carrie says:

No, that was the first question. :| This one came right after it. But, yeah, working too fast or something…

  3. Amy says:

OMG that’s hilarious. It took me a minute to figure out where it was going!

  4. So which box did you check?

  5. Carrie says:

Left it blank. Let ‘em puzzle that out.

(I did write “English” in the box, though. Should have written “American Bad Guy,” which is what he told me he spoke last week when he was dressed as Senor Evil.)

I’m pretty sure my girls learned to “no” before they learned “yes”
