Ugh

I have to get the house reasonably clean for the realtors tonight (how did I space on the fact that "tomorrow" and "Thursday" were the same day?). Sam has other plans.

I wonder if I could get away with tying him up to prevent him from "uncleaning." It's moments like these that I really, really envy people with a cosolidated play area for their kids, with a TV and all. My sister-in-law's house always looks so much more clutter-free than mine until you walk into the playroom. How nice to have a place you can just throw all that stuff and have it be excusable since it is a playroom.

Playrooms are nice, but it can be really tempting to end up penning your kid. Sure, your house may look nicer, but the kids feel like less a part of the family that way.

I just noticed your livejournal... I'm going to friend you, if you don't mind. I've been following your blog since Sam was a newborn- we've exchanged a few e-mails. I'm an AP mommy. I have a 2 and half year old, and a 7 month old.

I'd like a finished basement in this respect; it would also be nice if we wanted to homeschool there (we could use a whiteboard, etc., and extra bookshelves there).

Sam would love a playroom, and he'd have little problem playing there even if it were on the other end of the house on most days. Mr. Independent! :-/

So, will a separate play space be on the list of desired features for the Wisconsin house? ;>

Playrooms are great as long as they aren't too far from the kitchen and all. We've got an upstairs playroom (extra bedroom, really) that doesn't get used nearly enough because my kids are too little to leave up there while I do the laundry or wash dishes downstairs. So the living room is really just as much of a playroom as the playroom is. Sigh.
