Unexpected bonus
With the trip to the Greenbrier for which Eric's brother is paying (by the way, we're not even staying in the regular rooms, but in a "guest cottage" or whatever), he's also arranging for a family portrait to be taken. That will be nice to have, especially since we won't have many more opportunities for one.
Rita thinks she and I will need cocktail dresses for it. Yikes. I'll also need to see where I can find a nice little outfit for Sam to wear; any suggestions?

We like the Wooden Soldier for Christmas outfits, etc, but, then, we're weirdos.
I know in my town... there is a store that sells used baby clothes... and they have a huge stock of "one-time" occasion time stuff. Cute christmas dresses for girls, and little tuxes for boys partcipating in weddings... perhaps Alysia would know of one in your area?

How about Once Upon a Child? Their ad always made sense to me -- they would show two similar fancy dress items for little kids and ask "which of these would you rather your little darling refuse to wear?" One was the department store outfit, the other the slightly used Once outfit. The second, of course, was about half the price of the first.
Kids are peculiar about clothes. They hate trying them on. They hate wearing them if they aren't comfortable. And even if they're comfortable, sometimes they decide to have fashion sense and cry because they hate the color or they don't want to wear a vest, etc.
Or you could forget all this and just knit him a tuxeedo:)
