Women, a Question

I'm just curious about something. Eric asked me the eternal question: "What do you want for Christmas?" Rare is the occasion these days that I have a response for him, though I know he means the question honestly and wants an honest answer.

So, I ask you, what do you want your spouses/SO's to get for you this year? Answer in the comments.

Dan never asks me what I want because he knows that if it's something I *know* I want, I'll get it myself. I want stuff from him that comes from his own heart/mind.

Not that that's always what I get :P If I get anything else from Avon I think I'm going to have to revoke his gift-giving priveleges for a while.

SO and I went in on an elliptical machine as our Christmas present to each other. Even though we agreed not to buy any other gifts, I am still secretly hoping that he gets me the Mme De Maintenon Locket from Past Times.

Some Sibyls on a pendent and some Wrappings perfume by Clinique.

A massage. Either paid for in a salon or a really good one from him with no complaints about how his hands are tired.

Or some nice flannel pajamas.

I'd love a new vacuum cleaner since ours is busted. We only have a little carpeted area so I'm using the dustbuster but it really sucks!

I would very much like a really nice digital camera and I think I may be getting one. I hope. :)

I asked to either have our floors refinished or to add onto our vinyl fencing. I'm practical but not cheap ; )

I want a steam cleaner/wet-dry vac combo, but I'm one of those weird women who don't mind getting housecleaning equipment as a gift.

I want this version of Romeo and Juliet. With the happy ending of course!

The ultimate would be this beautiful matted and framed print of a stone walkway with vines and potted plants, it was so wonderful! I saw at the bookstore, but, due to budget and if he bought it I would kill him. So next on my list would be:

Cranium board game to add to our collection.

Books:
Knitting For Dummies top on my list!
Mennonite Community Cookbook
The New Beagle
The Karen Kingsbury books I am missing

Another beagle to add to our beagle family.

AND...
If a miracle happened and I could actually figure out what I am doing wrong on the knitting, then I would like some nice yarn, and some nice needles, maybe even a book with some patterns. Or something along those lines.

I like books from my reading list(!)
-Anything from Bath and Body Works
-a Boos Board chopping block
-a sonicator from Sharper Image (best jewelry cleaner in the world!!)
-and a job that would pay & give health insurance and would be guaranteed for two years - I'm asking Santa for that one! :)

a KING sized bed - but I know we'll not be getting that.

a big washing machine, i have one that was once our portable (hooked-up to sink). i like that floor-mate idea via Emily ;-) -- and that is the one thing i *might* get -- if I remember to ask for it.

OH - or a three day vacation at a local hotel
:-P -- ALONE!

Diamonds!!! JK LOL
Actually, like Emily, I would LOVE one of those Floormates.

I'm thinking practical: that Floor Mate machine that supposedly cleans linoleum floors. And maybe a blender.

this year we're thinking of doing a family gift - a nice fish tank (our 21 month old LOVES watching fish). we've done things like that before, getting nice expensive sheet sets for us or a piece of furniture. but with a move coming up i don't know if those make sense for you.
perfumes are always nice (i love all the GAP scents), Bath and Body works has some nice facial items - you could ask for a Home Spa Basket. or a Box Set (cds) of a band you like, maybe. oh, i always love getting candles. or you could go the practical route and ask for all new underwear, socks and bras. or how about a nice watch?

hope some of that helped... i'm going to go email my hubby with that list now!

We're on a tight budget this year, so things are simple.

CDS: Sarah McLachlan, Afterglow/Dido, Life for Rent
BOOKS: gift certificate
Debbie Mumm mailbox covers
Anything Thomas Kinkade
A sweater

From the in-laws, I get my favorite imported English chocolates (it's good to have relatives in Europe), perfume, and they always get me jewelry even though I ask them not to - it's never my style. :) But they mean well, so I wear it.

Heh, I will be no help at all. I asked him, please, not to buy me anything this year. :)

a magazine subscription?

Posted by: jade on November 23, 2003 04:42 PM

Anything from my Amazon wish list, or a TiVo!

Posted by: Robyn on November 23, 2003 03:36 PM

How about a family gift, like a nice nativity set? Ballroom dancing lessons together?

For myself, bookstore gift credit is always nice, or a nice meal out.

This year we've decided to buy each other a new cool board game. We love playing games, but always seem to end up playing the same ones again and again... Seeing as we're poor students, buying it together is good for our budget.

Other years I've wished for movies, CDs, books or just a nice 'gift certificate' for a real date or a nice back-rub / massage.
