New entry

Another one.

Bad news on the house: the couple's father (well, one of their fathers; nothing weird here of which I know) has issues with the house. The couple still wants it, though, so depending on the situation, we may still have a sale. Apparently, their agent is furious that their father might be messing up a good deal; they honestly won't find a better house for the money. We should know.

I just pulled the url up and fixed the tiny typo. I figured someone else had already brought it up. :)

Whoops, typo in the URL. Now, why hadn't anybody else said anything? ;-)

Apparently, there's a whole lot of importance on the distance between us and the buyers; we're not really ever supposed to see each other. The thing he didn't like about the house is the slope on the back porch, which was intentionally done before it was a cover porch so as to let the rain run off, and the fact that once upon a time there were termites, which have been treated and are absolutely no longer there. :-( His opinion shouldn't erally matter much, but they're nervous people, and for all we know, he's helping with a down payment.

Am I the only one who cant see that journal entry?!? Maybe it's just my browser but I've tried over and over again....hope the couple doesnt let the father run all their major life decsisions for them!! Hopefully it's just something a simple conversation w/ him would fix, maybe he should come back to the house for a tour w/ the couple to see it for himself and ask you and the realtor questions. Good luck!

Merengue powder is simply powdered egg whites. There is a product called "Just Whites" by Deb-El that is powdered egg whites (pasteurized).

If you choose to use liquid egg whites instead, and know that Sam will be eating it and want to reduce your worries by one;), then use liquid egg whites (found in most grocery stores in the dairy/egg section in little cartons) as they are also pasteurized. Make sure to read the carton to be sure that it is a) pasteurized and b) JUST egg whites, as there are many brands that I can't vouch for AND many kinds that aren't just whites and thus won't result in the same texture. (Some possible finds: Naturegg's Simply Egg Whites, Papetti All Whites, or Eggology 100% Egg Whites.)

Good luck with the open house on Sunday, and I hope the couple can get their father to say why he doesn't like the house and they show him how he is wrong. Parents always mean best, but I hope that this parent doesn't make everyone suffer for it.

Here's another royal icing recipe that uses egg whites:

http://www.cooks.com/rec/doc/0,161,152161-253200,00.html

The key with royal icing is to make sure that there's not a drop of oil or grease on any of your bowls or utensils. The icing just won't come together if there's any grease. The advantage is that it's fat-free and really easy to clean up! And if any gets on your carpet, just let it dry and scrape it off.

Here's a recipe for royal icing that uses egg whites instead:

http://www.marthastewart.com/page.jhtml?&type=content&id=recipe1300

Unfortunately, it uses raw eggs, which may not be good for little tummies. Anyway, at least it's an alternative to meringue powder.

Have fun!
