New entry
I'm on fire! Lots of stuff about Sam's Christmas list - exciting, I know.

FWIW, the Power Touch has book that go up through age 8. So it looks pretty long-lasting, too. :)
I haven't seen the Power Touch anywhere! I like to let Sam try things out before purchasing them. ;-) So far, he seems okay with hitting "Go"; I told him it's like a traffic light. "Okay, push the green light...and go!"
I also like the fact that the LeapPad seems like it could feasibly last for many, many years for him (it plays the big kids' books). Maybe I'll have to look into the Power Touch, though; I haven't bought anything yet.
Yes, the Power Touch is the Fisher-Price one. Jamie absolutely loves it--he gets upset if we have to leave it at the store! I can;t wait for him to get it at Christmas. :)
We purchased my little boy a Leap Pad when he was preschool aged. He wasn't too impressed with it. The whole pressing "go" doesn't stick with their minds. A lot of money for not a lot of play time. Just my opinion.
Is the Power Touch Learning System the one from Fisher-Price? My sister was looking into getting Spencer the LeapPad for toddlers (Little Touch or something like that) but the reviews on Amazon were less than stellar. How can they expect a 20 month-old to push "go" on every page when her five year old kindergarten students don't remember to do it every time? She was considering the Fisher-Price thingy but I hadn't looked into it yet.
I wanted to say about the Leap Pad...we're getting Jamie (who's about the same age as Sam) the Power Touch Learning System instead. The Leap Pad aggravated him...having to push the "go" button on each page totally annoyed him. It's so interesting to see how different the kids all are, even when they're virtually identical in age. :)
I hear you on the low-key Christmas, btw. Jamie is getting precisely 3 presents from us: the Power Touch, one extra book, and a Play-Doh Barrel. I know our families will give him way more stuff than he really needs, anyway.
