Ugh
I feel like such a freaking idiot. I was just going outside to get some things from Eric's trunk. When I realized that I'd left a bag out there, I turned around at the top of the foyer steps...and promptly fell down the stairs, twisting my ankle and putting my hand right through the screen in the door.
The screen portion is actually a part of the door, crimped in. The whole door looks like it will need to be replaced now.
I don't deserve to draw breath today.

On our doors, the screen was a sheet of plastic screening stuff you buy in a roll, and the "crimped in" part is a sort of gasket/o-ring type thing that pulls out. My husband replaced screen a few times when kids leaned through it.
It's a pain to get the gasket tight (then you cut off the excess screen with a knife), but way cheaper than putting in a new door.
Or--I bet window repair places will do that for a fee--still cheaper than a door.
I hope your ankle will start to feel better fast, and that your cold will ease by morning!
I have been there done that! Hope your ankle and your pride heal quickly!
