04/24/2002 Entry: "Doctor"
We had a well-baby checkup today. No real reason; it had just been a while since his last one. Plus, we had decided to wait until the Spring to give him a tetanus shot, since the vaccine shortage had made a tetanus-alone vaccine unavailable last winter.
Well, it's still unavailable. It's back-ordered for a year. Drat! So, under the advice of our trusted doctor, we went ahead and gave him Diptheria-Tetanus. Sam likes to play outside so much, and his feet are already covered with tiny scratches, so it didn't seem wise to wait. Anyway, I was mainly concerned about the pertussis component of the typically given vaccine, so at least we didn't have to deal with that.
In other news, Sam's weight curve is slowing. I'm not surprised, considering how active he's become. He's now about 20 pounds and change. He's on a higher height curve. Eric was a string-bean for his first eight years or so, so perhaps Sam's taking after Daddy in that respect.
