05/15/2002 Entry: "Sick?"

My throat is killing me. It started as a tickle yesterday, so I took the equivalent of a blue whale's daily Vitamin C requirement, drank a bunch of OJ, and took it easy. Today, it's much worse. Feh. I'd gargle salt water, but we have no freaking salt in the house! Who the heck runs out of salt?!

Why, yes, I am in a foul temper.

Anyway, the living room is pretty child-proofed, so I think I'm going to cuddle up on the floor under a blanket and let Sam run around while I rest. He'll be okay. I just can't push myself. Any home remedies would be welcomed, too.

The punchline is - we had a 1/4 full cannister of salt in the cupboard. With all the other spices.

I'm sorry you're sick :( I had some throat-tickles and found out they were coming from allergies (which I'd never been diagnosed with before). I guess I don't have any stellar home remedies, except maybe hot tea. My mom always made that for me when I was sick and I make it for myself now (unless she happens to be around!) Can I just tell you you have the most beautiful child! I love Sam's red hair (and he's got a great grin!). I'm a redhead and I want a redheaded baby someday ;) Maybe I'll luck out.

I'm so sorry to hear you are sick. I have good luck with the "gatorade and vitamin C" cure when I have a cold. I drink tons of the first and take tons of the second. I have also had good results from zinc in the Coldezz lozenges which are good on the throat -- but not everyone can tolerate the texture of the zinc. It makes your mouth feel a bit... dry.
