06/04/2002 Entry: "Stroller "bargain""

$2100? For a stroller?? On sale???

Some people have too much money. If you're one of them, and you'd like to share, you could toss some my way. We sure could use it.

OH MY! My first thought was, it better drive itself - instead of having to be pushed. And it better include an "Onstar" system. I would have thought something that expensive would have been a bit more up to date looking. Completely ridiculous!

This is very much the traditional English nanny pram, meant to show that you are, indeed, posh and your tot shall be well-raised by nannies till age 5, then governesses until it's time to send them off to Eton or Le Rosey. The kinds of people who buy these things would consider the full price to be pin money. Scary, scary way to raise a kidlet.

something about that baby carriage makes me think "baby hearse" - ick.

Oh, that's the stroller that we ordered for our baby.

NOT!

For that price, the stroller better be gold-plated or something...*giggles*

OH MY GOSH!!!! Then what do you do with it once a really poopy diaper leaks out all over it? Oh no, wait, those who can afford a stroller that expensive, don’t poop! :-)

Heh. I guess you haven't seen poshtots.com yet, then. Their handpainted flower bed is amazing, but for that price I could furnish most of my house.

I find in funny that a website selling a $2,100 stroller has to do it on a store.yahoo site. You'd think they could afford to do their own e-com, or hire a company to make it look more professional & less 'cookie-cutter'.

gah! "they're" not "their". That'll teach me not to preview. hehe

Even more sad is the fact that anyone who buys that probably isn't using it themselves; they get it so their nanny looks good strolling their silver-spoon tot through the park. I live in a fairly affluent Connecticut town and take my girls to the Green (aka commons or park) on weekdays to play. Toddlers are everywhere, but most are attended by their full-time nannies. Rare is the actual mom who comes out to play on a weekday. While I have all the respect in the world for women who choose to have a career in addition to a family, I wonder if those who are well off enough to hire a full-time nanny know what their missing?

Good lord. And it's just a carriage, for the laying down stage of babyhood that ends all too quickly, not a real stroller that the baby can use once he or she insists on sitting up and looking out. I'll stick with my Graco Lite Rider, thankyouverymuch. But it is a beautiful pram!
