06/25/2002 Entry: "Relief"
...so I popped Sam in the stroller and took him down to the corner store for some sherbet pops. It's been ages since he's ridden in the stroller (perhaps it was even last summer), so that alone was a treat for him. I wished I had my camera for the eating of the pop, though; he was green and orange and pink drippings from head to toe, with a lovely drippy beard of melting brown. Pure bliss, I tell you.
Then we stopped at the playground on our way home for some swing fun. Way too hot for my tastes, but Sam seemed to appreciate it. It certainly made naptime an easier feat, let me say. He was knocked out in no time.

Okay, so that was supposed to be on the next entry, not this one. Sorry. I think I clicked the wrong link somehow!

Guilt can be useful, if it prods us to rectify wrongs, but guilt over things that you can't undo or couldn't have stopped even if you tried, well, it's just counterproductive. You've seen your family a lot, but that was mostly here in Pittsburgh, right? You could meet them halfway. You couldn't do that with Eric's parents, could you? And even if you had, there's not really any way of knowing that more visits with you would've changed her mental condition.
Anyway, all that to say, please don't beat yourself (selves) up. And of course, we're still praying for your entire (extended) family. *hugs*
