07/26/2002 Entry: "Keys, part 2"

Oh, good grief! Today's key episode saw me accidentally leaving my purse and keys behind when trying to leave to run errands. Both sets of keys, this time. And locked the door behind me before I realized. Bah!

Luckily, Boris and Natasha (our Russian next-door neighbors, for those playing along at home) were home and let me stay there with Sam until Eric could come home and rescue us. Sam enjoyed a little playtime with their daughter in the meantime. Not a bad outcome, but what a hassle!

Probably right, Jennifer. Probably right. :-)

A wise woman once told me, "heed the loss of your keys". There's too much in your brain right now, and you're going too fast. That's my theory, and I'm sticking to it. :)

Ha! Boris and Natasha is what we named our first pigs. After the cartoon characters. We also have Sasha and Ivan our cats. We're planning on continuing the Russian theme.

Aww, Carrie, that's so frustrating!

Must be something about having a just-past-one-year-old...When Henry was between 12 and 14 months I locked the keys in the car two times, in most inconvenient places. What a drag. I have no cell phone, and once I was in a park that had no phone of any kind.

You've had your "three" by the way, if you count (And I definitely would!) the locking Sam in the car incident.

I bought a big clip (Like a carabiner clip) and put my keys on that, and then I clip them to my diaper bag. They're easy to find, never lost in the bag, and now I'm in the habit, so I don't lose my keys half so often any more.

Hang in there. It's impossible to be anything but scatterbrained sometimes, with a busy toddler wreaking havoc at every turn!

When I do stuff like this (for me, it's locking the keys in the car), I always do it in threes. It's a self-fulfilling prophecy thing, I bet. Hopefully, you're done at two!

hmm... perhaps you should wear a set of spare keys around your neck (under your clothes)?
