I feel sick.
She needs $2000 worth of repairs, or Very Bad Things could happen, like wheels falling off.
We'll survive. Yes, we will. But, ouch, that's going to hurt. (Like a hand grenade in the ear, I mean.)

Aww, Carrie, I am so sorry. That's bad news. Of course, if you sink that $2000 in the car now, you may very well have a car that runs great for a good long time. I sure hope so.
We've had plenty of expensive car repair bills, because we've never driven new cars. It's hard to swallow, but then again, used cars are still a great bargain, in my opinion. Even with costly repairs every couple years, older cars work out to be pretty economical for those of us who can't or don't want to have a big car payment every month.
But still...Ouch. I'm sorry to hear it.

Carrie - Check out www.nationallemonlawcenter.com
They allow you to check out the lemon laws of your state.
Hope this helps.

Damn..I would definitely look into the lemon law as well. Or any sort of guarantee? Btw, what work needs to be done to it?

There's a great legal website out there, www.freeadvice.com, that might could help you out. You register (it's free), post a question, and lawyers and other people familiar with the topic will get back to you, usually within 24 hours.
You could ask them about your rights and responsibilities pertaining to your state.
Since you haven't had the car long, you might indeed qualify for lemon law status.
Just a thought. Hope it helps!

Oh honey, I am so sorry. Isn't that considered a lemon? And isn't there a lemon law that could protect you?
I have made really bad decisions like that in the past and it does indeed make you sick. So very very sorry. (((((((((Carrie))))))))
